FAQs

We've answered the most common questions we have received about fabric graphics, dye-sublimation printing, exhibition displays, SEG lightboxes, construction hoardings and event branding. If you did not find what you need kindly talk to our team.

Working With Us, Pricing & Turnaround

Do I need to be a trade customer, or can I order directly as a business?

You don't need a trade account to order from FaberExposize UK. We work directly with brands and event organisers as well as trade and reseller partners, including agencies, print management companies, signage companies and exhibition stand builders.

Whichever route you come through, we supply the print itself, not installation. If you're ordering directly as a brand or event organiser, you'd typically handle fitting yourself or through your own contractor; if you're ordering as an agency or stand builder, that's already part of what you offer your client. Either way, we'll provide fitting guidance alongside the order if it's useful.

How quickly can you turn around an urgent print job?

Our production facility runs 24/7, which means we can accommodate genuinely tight deadlines, including next-day and same-week turnarounds for exhibitions, live events and last-minute retail campaigns. Turnaround depends on the material, print specification (e.g. dye sublimation, UV, etc), finishing specifications (e.g. sewing, hemming, eyeleting, pick-and-pack, etc) and the volume/quantity required. The safest approach is to call us as soon as you know your deadline. We'll always tell you honestly if a timescale isn't achievable rather than overpromise.

Is there a minimum order quantity for wide format printing?

No. We print single, one-off pieces as well as large production runs. Although we print in bulk for trade customers and big campaigns, a lot of our work is also bespoke, one-of-a-kind graphics, so we're set up to handle short runs efficiently without the high per-unit cost you'd expect from a factory built only for bulk.

How much does large format or fabric printing cost per square metre?

Pricing depends on the size, material, quantity, print width and finishing requirements of each job. We quote individually rather than publish a flat cost per square metre, as this means you only pay for the materials and finishing you actually need.

Factors that can influence the price include:

  • Material specification, such as Frontlit, Fabriblock (Blackback/Blockout), Jet Display, Lumiweave or Lumiweave Eco.
  • Finishing requirements, including eyelets, pole pockets, silicone edges, Velcro, keder and sewing.
  • Print width and size, particularly for large-format or wider seamless prints.
  • Quantity, volume discounts may be available for larger orders.
  • Turnaround time, express production is available for an additional fee.

For accurate trade pricing, send us your dimensions, material preference and intended use, and we'll come back with a fast, itemised quote. You can also ask to speak with one of our Account Managers to discuss your requirements.

Can you handle large, multi-site or nationwide print projects?

Yes. With a network of nine factories worldwide, and the UK's largest in-house finishing team based in Leeds, we regularly produce large scale campaigns for national retail rollouts, touring live events and multi-site construction hoarding. This means consistent colour and print quality across every location, coordinated through one point of contact rather than juggling several regional suppliers.

Do you work with agencies and stand-build companies on a white-label basis?

Yes, a large part of our work comes from creative & design agencies, print management companies, signage companies, exhibition stand builders and event production companies who need a reliable print partner behind the scenes. We can print and finish to your specification and deliver discreetly, so your client relationship stays front and centre.

Fabric Printing & Dye-Sublimation

What is dye sublimation printing and why is it used for fabric graphics?

Dye-sublimation is a printing process where ink is turned into a gas under heat and bonds directly into the fibres of the fabric, rather than sitting on top as a surface coating. This gives you vivid, long-lasting colour that won't crack, peel or fade the way vinyl print can, and the fabric keeps its natural softness, drape and stretch. It's the industry standard for exhibition backdrops, SEG lightbox graphics, flags, stage dressing and premium retail displays. FaberExposize UK is Europe's largest supplier of dye-sublimated print.

What's the difference between dye sublimation, UV and gel-solvent printing?

Dye sublimation is primarily used for polyester fabrics and produces a soft, matte, glare-free finish that is well suited to exhibition graphics, fabric displays, backlit applications and premium visual environments. UV printing uses UV-cured inks that are cured instantly as they are printed, making it suitable for a wide range of rigid and flexible substrates where durability and versatility are important. Gel-solvent printing uses a gel-based ink system that offers strong outdoor durability and is well suited to applications such as banners, signage and other outdoor graphics.

Each process has different strengths depending on the substrate, application, required finish, durability, print size and environment. We produce using all three technologies and can recommend the most appropriate process for your application rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

How wide can you print in one continuous, seamless piece?

We can produce large-scale, continuous prints well beyond standard wide format widths, including 5 metre wide printing for stage backdrops, media walls and large hoarding wraps. If your project needs a print wider than a single roll can produce, our in-house finishing team can also join panels so the seam disappears once the piece is tensioned or hung.

Will printed fabric graphics fade or discolour over time?

Dye-sublimated fabric graphics are significantly more fade-resistant than standard digitally printed materials because the ink is chemically bonded into the fibre rather than sitting on the surface. Longevity still depends on the environment - indoor retail and exhibition graphics will hold their colour for years, while permanently outdoor pieces exposed to direct UV and weather will have a shorter practical lifespan and may need periodic replacement. We'll advise on the right material and any protective finishing for your specific installation.

Can fabric prints be washed, folded and reused for future events?

Yes, this is one of the main reasons event and retail clients move from vinyl to fabric. Most of our dye-sublimated fabrics can be gently washed, folded flat for storage or transported without cracking and be reused across multiple events or campaign refreshes, which reduces both cost and waste over time.

SEG Tension Fabric & Lightbox Displays

What is SEG fabric and how does it work?

SEG stands for Silicone Edge Graphic. A thin silicone strip is sewn around the border of a dye-sublimated fabric print, which then pushes into a recessed groove on an aluminium frame. The fabric pulls drum-tight across the frame with no visible fixings, giving a clean, seamless, almost frameless finish that looks premium in retail, exhibition and lightbox applications.

Are SEG (silicone edge graphic) fabric graphics suitable for backlit lightboxes?

Yes, SEG fabric is one of the most popular materials for backlit and LED lightbox displays because dye-sublimated fabric transmits light evenly without hotspots and has a soft, glare-free glow rather than the harsh reflectivity you get from a backlit vinyl or acrylic panel. We print backlit-specific fabric with adjusted colour density to compensate for light passing through the material, so the finished graphic looks balanced once it's illuminated, not washed out.

Can you supply replacement graphics for an existing SEG lightbox or frame?

Yes. If you already have SEG frames or lightboxes installed and simply need refreshed graphics, for a new season, campaign or rebrand, send us the frame dimensions (or the frame itself if easier) and we'll produce a like-for-like replacement print that fits without any frame modifications.

How long does it take to fit or change an SEG fabric graphic?

One of the main advantages of SEG systems is speed of change. Once the frame is installed, swapping the fabric graphic typically takes only a few minutes per panel with no tools required, the silicone edge simply tucks into the frame groove. This makes SEG a practical choice for retailers who refresh window and in-store graphics frequently.

Exhibition Stands, Events & Live Entertainment

What's the best material for an exhibition stand backdrop or media wall?

For most exhibition backdrops and media walls we recommend dye-sublimated stretch fabric, it packs down small for transport, tensions drum-tight across a pop-up frame with no creases and gives a premium, professional finish under exhibition hall lighting. If the backdrop will be backlit, we'll switch to a backlit-optimised fabric. For a shorter-term, lower-cost stand, printed PVC or roller banners can be the more sensible option. We'll talk through the trade-offs rather than defaulting to the most expensive material.

Can you print and deliver for an event with a very tight deadline?

Yes, this is a large part of what we do. Our 24/7 production facility and dedicated customer service team are set up specifically to support live events and exhibitions where the print deadline is fixed and can't move. Get in touch with your dimensions and deadline as early as possible so we can confirm the fastest realistic route to production and delivery.

Do you print stage backdrops, flooring and set dressing for live events and tours?

Yes, we produce large-format stage backdrops, printed vinyl flooring, festival and touring graphics, and set dressing for live entertainment, concerts, and major sporting events. We understand the realities of live event production: tight deadlines, fixed show dates, and no room for delays. That's why we plan our production schedules around delivering on time, every time.

Can you offer design advice if we don't have finished artwork yet?

Yes. If you're still developing the artwork, we can provide practical guidance on layout, scale and materials. Drawing on our production experience, we'll help identify potential issues early and make sure the finished graphic is fit for purpose and looks great at its intended size.

Construction Hoarding & Site Branding

What's the most durable print option for construction site hoarding?

For hoarding that needs to withstand months or years outdoors, we typically specify heavy-duty UV-printed or laminated materials designed for continuous weather exposure, rather than standard banner vinyl which can degrade faster under constant UV and rain. The right choice depends on the expected duration of the site, the substrate the graphics are mounted to (ply, Correx, mesh), and whether the hoarding needs to meet any local planning or public spaces requirements. We'll ask about all of this before recommending a material.

Can you brand a construction site with consistent graphics across multiple hoarding panels?

Yes. We routinely print large volumes of construction hoarding and site graphics for developers, contractors and infrastructure projects. Where brand consistency is important, we apply strict colour management procedures throughout production to achieve a consistent appearance across the full installation.

Do you supply mesh or debris netting printed with branding for scaffolding?

Yes, we print branded mesh (standard PVC through to heavier-duty mesh) and debris netting for scaffold wraps, which allows a construction site to maintain its safety screening while also carrying the developer's branding, planning notices, or marketing for the completed development. This is a common requirement on city centre regeneration and residential developments.

Outdoor Signage, Barrier Covers & Flags

What are printed cafe barriers and how much do they typically cost?

Printed cafe barriers are branded covers fitted over standard pavement barrier frames, used by cafes, bars and restaurants to mark out outdoor seating areas while displaying their branding to passing footfall. The cost depends on the barrier size, the material used (standard PVC through to heavier-duty weatherproof fabric), and the quantity ordered. A single barrier cover may cost considerably more per unit than a full outdoor seating run of ten or more. You can get in touch with your barrier dimensions and quantity for an accurate price.

Do you print Heras fence banners and covers, and what sizes are available?

Yes, we print Heras fence banners and covers to fit standard UK Heras fence panel dimensions, commonly used for construction site perimeters, crowd control at events, and temporary security fencing that needs to double up as advertising or safety screening. We also offer lightweight polystretch airmesh options, which reduce wind load on the fencing compared to solid PVC. This is an important consideration for any large fenced perimeter exposed to open ground.

Are your outdoor banners and flags windproof and weatherproof?

Material choice makes a real difference here. Solid PVC banners and covers can act like a sail in strong wind, putting strain on fixings and frames. For anywhere exposed to open wind, e.g. fence lines, barrier runs, tall feather flags, we generally recommend mesh or airmesh fabrics, which let wind pass through the material while still displaying full colour graphics, significantly reducing the risk of tearing or the whole structure being blown over.

Do you print feather flags and outdoor advertising flags?

Yes. Feather flags, barrier covers and Heras fence banners are produced through our sister company, Northern Flags, so between FaberExposize UK and Northern Flags we cover the full range of large-format print and fabric display work, from a single custom flag through to a complete event branding package.

Artwork, File Setup & Colour Matching

What file format and resolution do you need for print-ready artwork?

We prefer vector files (AI, EPS or PDF with embedded fonts) wherever possible, especially for logos and text, since these scale to any size without loss of quality. For photographic or raster artwork, we recommend a minimum of 150 DPI at final print size, with 300 DPI where the piece will be viewed up close. Artwork should be supplied in CMYK, with a safe area and bleed allowance built in. Our team can send a template or check your file before print if you're unsure.

Can you match our exact brand colours and Pantone references?

Yes. We regularly match Pantone references and brand-specific colours for agency, retail and nationwide campaign work. Our colour management process includes specialist colour profiling and the use of printed swatches to verify colour accuracy before production. Because screen colours can vary significantly, we always recommend agreeing a physical colour reference to ensure the finished print matches brand Pantone expectations.

Why does my design look different once it's printed at large scale?

Colours and fine detail behave differently at large scale than they do on a screen or small proof. Thin lines can disappear, low-resolution images pixelate and colours viewed from a distance under different lighting (especially backlit displays) don't always read the way they do on a monitor. This is exactly why we review artwork before print and will flag anything likely to cause an issue, such as text that's too fine for a backlit fabric graphic or an image resolution too low for the intended viewing distance.

Sustainability, Delivery & Installation

Do you offer sustainable or recyclable print materials?

Sustainability is built into how we operate and it's an area we've been recognised for with four industry awards for our work as a green print partner.

One of the biggest waste problems in our industry is that exhibition and event graphics are typically used once and then discarded. To address this, we run an in-house back-to-base recycling scheme: once your event has finished, you can send the fabric back to us for recycling, with some material repurposed into traffic cones rather than going to landfill.

Our dye-sublimated fabric is also more sustainable by nature, as it can be washed, folded and reused across future campaigns rather than replaced each time. Additionally, we offer environmentally friendly substrate options which we have named Enviro Range. If sustainability is a priority for your organisation, let us know at the quote stage and we'll advise on the most appropriate options.

Do you offer on-site installation, or is it print and delivery only?

We're a trade printer, so installation isn't something we offer directly. Our focus is on producing the graphics to the highest possible standard and getting them to you ready to fit. The same applies across our sister company, Northern Flags.

This trade-first approach is by design. White-label supply is one of our core strengths, and we work behind the scenes with creative agencies, print management companies, signage companies and exhibition stand builders, who handle the client relationship and installation themselves. We print, finish and deliver so that you can install and keep your client relationship going.

If you need fitting guidance to hand to your installation team, we're happy to provide that alongside the order.

Can you deliver and produce print outside the UK for international campaigns?

Yes. FaberExposize UK is part of a wider partnership operating nine factories worldwide, which means we can coordinate large-scale or multi-territory campaigns with local production close to each destination, rather than printing everything in Leeds and shipping internationally. This keeps lead times shorter and freight costs down for brands running the same campaign across several countries.

How do I get a quote or start a project with FaberExposize UK?

The fastest way is to contact our team directly on 0113 205 5185 or by emailing info@faberexposize.co.uk with your dimensions, material preference (if known), quantity and deadline. If you're not sure what you need yet, that's fine too, describe the application (exhibition stand, hoarding, retail lightbox, event backdrop) and we'll recommend the right material and finish.
